THIS IS WHERE EVERYTHING CHANGES
WHERE CRAFT BECOMES ART

From the Netherlands to the United States.
Built by hand. Carried by people. Driven by belief.
And this is just the beginning.

Why USA

Hi, my name is Lenny Hall, owner of Endurance Floor Company, Regional Instructor and Board of Director at the NWFA and you know me as The American Parqueteur.

For years, I’ve believed that our craft is more than just installing floors. That what we do carries creativity, precision, and meaning, something that deserves to be seen as art.

When I saw what Jakko created, first with the Tree-Ring Floor, and now with The Night Watch in Wood, I knew: This is it. This is what shows the world what our craft truly is.

I’ve been trying to make that visible myself for a long time.
But this… this does it in a way words never could.

I started this initiative because I believe this deserves to be seen, far beyond our industry.

Because there is so much more in what we do than people realize and I wanted others to see it. To feel it. To experience it.

That’s why I made it my mission to bring this work to the United States.
To the NWFA Expo in Orlando in 2026…. and BEYOND!

Because the original Night Watch in the Rijksmuseum will never leave the Netherlands.
But this one can travel. And it carries two stories. The story of Rembrandt and the story of Jakko.

A story about connection, creativity, craftsmanship, adventure and about being seen.
This is not just a stage to make one artist visible. It was created to make all of us visible.
And to inspire craftsmen and the next generation to see what is possible.

What this is really about

This is not just an artwork. It’s about something much deeper.

About people. In a world where so many people feel invisible, this work creates a moment where you are not. Where craftsmanship is not just something you do, but something that tells a story. Where every piece, every detail, carries time, attention, and intention.

This is about connection. Between people. Between craft and art. Between what we make and what we feel.

And it’s about creating a stage. Not just for one artist but for everyone who stands on it. A place where stories can be told. Where talent can be seen. Where people can express who they are.

Because in the end… It’s not about the wood. It’s not about the technique. It’s about people.

The journey

What started in the Netherlands has been building step by step. From an idea… to something that began to move people.

From the Netherlands at the WorldSkills Netherlands Expo in the RAI (Amsterdam) to the Regius College, where it became a magnificent stage for young talent. And back to Amsterdam, where it reached a wider audience. -> And now  it has arrived in the United States at the NWFA Expo.

But this is not the final destination. This is just another step because this work was never meant to stay in one place. The journey continues and the next chapter… is still unwritten.

Impact

You don’t just look at this work. You experience it. People stop. They look closer. They start to feel something. Some see the craft. Some see the story. Some see themselves in it.

And when people step onto it… It changes. It becomes a stage.

A place where movement and expression come together. Where people find their voice. Where stories are shared. Where moments are created that stay with you. Young and old. Professionals and newcomers. Artists, craftsmen, and people who never expected to stand on a piece of art.

This is where the artwork comes alive. Not because of what it is but because of what people bring to it.

By the numbers

A diagonal wood structure within each pixel, creating depth and movement. Built by hand. Over 4 years of creation. An idea that started 28 years ago but numbers don’t tell the story.

  • Approximately 13 × 16 feet (approx. 215 sq ft | 4 × 5 meters)

  • 195,000 wooden pixels (approx. 0.4 × 0.4 inches each)

  • 52 wood species

  • Approximately 80,000 saw cuts

Because what you’re looking at is not just what was made… It’s what it represents.

Why support is needed

This journey doesn’t run on its own. Bringing this artwork to the United States and allowing it to travel further takes more than just an idea. It takes people.

  • Transport

  • Logistics

  • Installation

  • Insurance

  • New locations

This is not funded by one company. It is carried by those who believe in it. People who see the value of what this represents. People who want to be part of something bigger. Because this is not just about one artwork. It’s about what it stands for.

  • Connection

  • Creativity

  • Craftsmanship

  • And making people visible

And that only works if we do it together.

Jakko Woudenberg is a talented Dutch wood artist and a dear friend who has dedicated countless hours to creating a breathtaking 195,000+ wood pixel replica of Rembrandt’s iconic painting, ‘The Night Watchmen.’ This massive work is not only a testament to Jakko’s skill and creativity, but also a celebration of the artistry that can be found in the wood floor trade. Now, Jakko has the incredible opportunity to share his masterpiece with a wider audience by bringing it to the United States for display at the NWFA expo in Orlando, Florida.

However, moving such a monumental piece of art across continents is no small feat. The art must be shipped out of the Netherlands by April 2 to ensure it arrives in Orlando by April 20, where it will be showcased at a nonprofit event. The biggest challenge we face is covering the cost of overseas freight and land haulage. With your support, we can overcome this hurdle and make it possible for Jakko’s work to inspire countless others.

Seeing this incredible piece in person is an unforgettable experience. More importantly, we hope it will inspire young people to view the wood floor trade as more than just hard labor, but as a true art form—one that combines skill, creativity, and passion. We believe that anyone, regardless of background, can aspire to create something beautiful from wood that brings people together and stirs powerful emotions. No matter who you are, we are all drawn to art and its ability to move the soul. If everyone can pitch in by even a few dollars, we can work to bring this masterpiece of floor art to the US, where it will inspire so many young people to consider working with their hands and minds in a very rewarding trade.
